Wii wont play games ...

    Folks,
Bought myself a Wii this afternoon, and while it will play 'Wii Sports' and 'Link Crossbow Training' which were included, but it wont play 3 new games I bought (Tiger Woods PGA, Tony Hawks Proving Ground and The BIGS), just gives me the error:

"An error has occurred. Press the Eject button and remove the Disc, the turn the Wii Console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual - System Setup for troubleshooting help"

The troubleshooting help mainly consists of turning it off and such, but gets me nowhere.

The only thing is the 3 games were bought from Xtra Vision while the Console and included games from Smyths. Needless to say I'm pretty pissed off, so has anyone else had this problem? Is there any fix?

I've already upgraded the firmware online to v3.1e. Anything else before I go on the warpath to Smyths / Xtravision?

    Tom

    Yes, thanks.

It will recognize Tony Hawks, I can see the icon, but wont load the game. So it's recognizing the disc to a certain extent.

I had this problem with call of duty. Restarting the console didn't solve it but I was told to unplug the console and leave it off for a few minutes then plug it in and try it again. Also, try doing the above but have your game disk in the wii before you unplug it, so it's there as soon as you turn it on. It worked for me and I haven't had the problem since. Good luck.

I've left the console off for the last 2hrs, still doing the same thing. Tried various things like switching it on with the disk already in it, but no joy.

    http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/ts/errorMessages.jsp#disc_EjectError
"Error Occurred. Press the Eject button and remove the disc"

This indicates a problem with the Wii console and it will need to be repaired. Please call 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options, or click here to e-mail us.

Back to Smyths with me I reckon ...

Sounds like a problem with the console, not the games. Very unlikely 3 games in a row would be faulty. Back to Smyths you must go.:(

    Are they all new games?
Seems odd that Wii Sports works but the other 3 don't...

Yip, brand new games, not a mark on them.

This happened to me too, 3 games from xtra-vision, 2 used, 1 'new', none of them work. Wii sports, mario galaxy and link crossbow training all work fine. I'm thinking it's xtra-vision's mishandling of the discs causing damage?

This happened to me with wii sports once. Ejecting the disc and pulling the power on the wii for a few minutes seemed to sort it. Its been fine since anyway.

is the console up to date?

Turned out to be the games, that was after trying them on various console, and getting Smyths to check the console on a few of their own games. It's been fine since.
