im thinking of getting one of these 4 the bedroom.have a question - from the sky+ to the tv in my bedroom is about 20ft it wont be any hassle to bring it up but will it affect the quality of the picture and is the any alternative to having to run cable (any other devices)

Your run of cable should be fairly short or else degradation will be noticeable. A wireless video sender is often better. Composite video is better than RF (this being the 'magic eye' approach). Additionally, you only get mono audio with RF from the digibox whereas you get stereo when using a video sender. Using a video sender negates the need to run ugly cable also.

yeah i was thinking it would lose some quality at long distances.so can anyone recommend a good video sender.do they work like a magic eye ie. can i buy an extra sky remote to use with the video sender.

Same here absolutely no loss in quality in mine either once you hook it up properly - Sky box has a boosted power output for extensions I've got two separate boxes feeding into two different rooms one into the TV card on my PC

@wheres me jumpa, did you have the RF out powered from the sky box? this is something you would need to do manually as the sky boxes have the power assistance disabled upon install

this page has a good guide

    * Press SERVICES on the remote control.
    * Press 4 for SYSTEM SETUP
    * Press remote control key sequence "0 1 SELECT" - to enter the hidden Installers Menu
    * Press 4 for RF OUTLETS
    * Scroll down to RF OUTLET POWER SUPPLY and turn it to on.
    * Scroll down to SAVE NEW SETTINGS and Press SELECT to store the changes
    * Press BACKUP to go Back to your Sky channel
