    I really enjoyed "Das Leben der Anderen" this year. I'm just wondering what German movies can we look forward to over here on DVD in 2008?

    "Mein Führer", I don't know when it'll be released on DVD though :)

    I can recommend anythign with and/or from Till Schweiger.

    Barfuss, Der Eisbaer and Knocking on Heavens Door for instance. Should all be available on DVD.

    that includes releases of international movies, mind.

    old dvd's worth a look imho are
    - 'das boot' (5 hour tv version, much closer to the original book)
    - kleine haie (comedy)
    - superstau (comedy/satire on the german's holiday habits in the 80s)
    - die feuerzangen bowle (classic light comedy)
    - bang boom bang (comedy)
    - nosferatu (original from 1928)
    - die bruecke (from 1959, one of the best "anti war" movies I've seen)
    - die blechtrommel (cause i'm a pretentious little fecker)
    - wir kinder vom bahnhof zoo (biography of a heroin addict, a real downer)
    - das experiment (how will people act when given power. very good)
    - (T)raumschiff Surprise, Periode 1 (comedy. funny as hell and a good indication that germany is going to hell in a handbasket ;) )
    - grosse freiheit nummer 7 (simpler times)
    - der totmacher (analysis of a serial killer)
    - der bewegt mann (comedy on sex and human relations)

    downfall is an excellent world war 2 film.......even though it was released in 2004,saw it on rte 2 on friday night :-D
