Can't remember the model number, but I do know it was €1,299 some weeks ago. Great bargain.

899 is still a lot of money for a tv ,but as tv's go this one is a lot of tv for 899. The panasonic has good quality.

Kinda like saying why date Angelina Jolie when Grace Jones is taller...
Panasonic Plasma's are very good sets.

Most Panasonic Plasma's are fantastic, I bough one recently but this one isnt'.
The pic on the DID website is wrong, this is a very basic model with poor screen.
Get the 37PY70EY instead and you will love it.

+1 for the Panny plasma, very happy with my 42" PV71 (aka PX70). SD picture so much better than LCD.

Be advised that this ISN'T the smaller sibling of the PV(PX)70...it's the PV(PX)7, lower contrast ratio, only one HDMI input, lower gradation step number, tabletop stand instead of pedestal.
It's still a panasonic so decent quality is still assured...just less than the one with the extra zero on the model#...

    http://www.panasonic.co.uk/plasma-tv/th-37px60ped/index.htm
(pay no heed to the PX60 bit in that url; it links to the PX70)

In light of that, it's not really that great a value....if you can get the PV70 in 37" at that price that's probably a good deal.

[edit] Saw just now that ongarite beat me to it. Have to read whole threads in future...

I read the 20page manual for the hitachi ,in my opinion its probably better than the panasonic, its top res is 1080i ,its got fantastic dvd, sdtv, ntl, picture, but at present i think its over 1000euro,if you cAN find 1 in stock.ITS way more advanced than the samsung hdtv i got last year, ideal if you wanna use a 360 or pc,it has an extra 4/5 connectors than the samsung.I dont know the specs of the panasonic, but with prices nowadays, i wud,nt buy a hdtv smaller than 40inch.BUT every one has there preferences in regard to brands, etc.re technical quality ,id say hitachi is as good as panasonic .ITS like cars, some people like bmw, some like mercs.OK i see its got 1080p mode.

Sorry Bud, but Hitachi are not up there with the top Plasma manufacturers, the elite are Panasonic Pioneer & Fujitsu. I would agree that the OP should go for a 42" Panasonic, and would advise looking at bringing a set in from Germany for better savings.

Can you recommend a German website with decent prices? thx

Its not bad value from Richer Sounds here.
Its the UK version with no UHF tuner, not a problem if you are using it with NTL or Sky.

Just over €1100 inc delivery from there. That's where I got mine. Fully compatible with PAL-I.
Topvision leave a bit to be desired in the way of communication but you can't top the price. Just over a grand gets you the 37" version. Oddly enough the lesser PV7 models are more expensive from them...can't work out why...

I have the excellent TH42PX60 and no longer require the pedestal so anyone who wants it can have it for free, just PM me.

    Exact same as this one:

    Jaysus £125 for it?
Pretty positive it fits the 70 range...might have to get the black paint out though...

I have a free Pedestal for the PV/PX70 if anybody wants it. I bought the PV70 with the video cabinet but it came with the pedestal in the box anyway.
    Its black..

bought mine from this crowd, arrived safe and sound shrinkwrapped upright on a palet, http://www.technikdirekt.de/main/en/lcd-plasma-tv/plasma-tv/201110/-/Article.html?

They have a scaled down 42" Panasonic for 931 Euros as well, think it has only one HDMI and contrast ratio is lower at 8000:1
