    I have a network printer.
I also have an existing wireless network.

Is it possible to connect the priner to the wireless network?
I bought a wireless router (a second one) - hoping to connect the two networks together. It didn't work.

What to I need? The printer is a room that cannot have wires...

    Any ideas? thanks

Perhaps you should try again linking the routers.

WHat brand are they? The function you are looking for is wireless bridging.

You need a wireless bridge instead of the second router, http://www.expansys.ie/p.aspx?i=127730 or you could use Homeplug type stuff :http://www.expansys.ie/t.aspx?f=847

Something like that would do the job, but I'm not exactly a fan of Netgear products...
I'm sure someone else will be able to suggest a better alternative

The existing router is a netgear
The one I bought in PC world (dublin - liffey valley) is a linksys. I rank linksys tech support and she was asking me to link the two routers via ethernet cable ... which is not what I'm after!

So I'm bringing back the 89euro linksys rangebooster(model WRT54GR) and going to try something like ur saying tman... I'm unconvinced it will do the trick wirelessly

bushy - looks like the link that you gave (in my opinion) is the only one that could work... I won't go for that home plug stuff tho.

I hope PC World will give me my money back.

I'm really gutted as this printer was a wedding gift to my sister and I'm only in dublin today to get it fixed up for them.

Did you deal with a salesperson?

If the salesperson left you under the impression that the product would do what you wanted then you are entitled to your money back. Otherwise, you're relying on their good will, so be nice;)

it was a tech guy he said "I would be interested to know if that will work" they really didn't know what to offer me. I'm not annoyed at them... it was a tricky question. I'll head down now and if I get my money back I'll buy the bridge that bushy recommended.

    :( no joy...

I bought the belkin print server and connected it up. Worked a dream on windows vista home premium 32bit.

Problem is I can't connect to it via the other computer - windows vista ultimate 64bit.

I rank Belkin and they said its not possible with their print server... so I gave up at that point.

I'm sure there is an advanced way to connect the printer using virtual print server...

Have you tried http://belkin.httpsvc.vitalstreamcdn.com/belkin_vitalstream_com/support/dl/p75192ea_f1up0002_man.pdf - page 82, LPR Printing? An unsigned driver may pose a problem. Worth a shot; it should provide limited functionality. The instructions seem clear enough.

thank you karoma, I skimmed thru that in the manual, I will definately give it a shot. All I want is printing functionality. Thanks again.

Wireless printing, the final frontier. I may venture this route as I have a large printer and its very awkward connecting different machines to it.

Hi guys,I just switched broadband suppliers and was setting up the wifi access last night. I have a Huwaweii wifi router from vodafone which I can access from my laptops in my house. However I'm trying to get my printer on the wireless network also.I have a HP laserjet 1300 attached via USBcable to the Belkin wireless print server. I think I have the print server setup correctly i.e. it can see the wireless network being broadcast and when I detach the LAN cable from it after configuration and restart it the wireless LED goes solid blue which is supposed to mean that it has attacted to the wireless network. However when I view the equipment currently connected to my wireless network on the vodafone router I can only see my laptop and not the printer.Any ideas on what I'm missing here?

Hey PC_DAVE, give belkin a buzz. They have good support.

    http://www.belkin.com/support/contact/phone/Default.aspx

Also give the above manual a read. If you fail there come back here. I'll help you out if I can. Can't help now as I'm not beside it.

also what router exactly do you have? Model and version...
