cable from aerial enters attic into a distribution unit (not powered) that feeds 4 tv`s. should i have some kind of power supply unit here to help boost the distributed signal. i have a single outlet masthead psu on the downstairs tv
    thanks

You seem to just have a passive splitter in the attic, which allows power from the PSU downstairs to pass through the splitter and up to the masthead amp.

    Is your signals poor?

What you could do is move your PSU to the attic and have it connected directly to the incoming cable. Then, from PSU to a 4 way distribution amp. Of course, you'd need power sockets in attic to do this.
