Just wondering if anyone ran this through their software up date, it's ballsed up my keyboard.

When the laptop restarted, the caps lock and num lock keys both lite up. At first the left hand side wouldn't work, now it does but the caps lock and num lock keys are reversed so I have to have caps lock on to type in lower case.

    Any ideas??

I've had similar issue. Randomly on boot it would decide to light up the num lock and caps lock buttons but the functions themselves were not 'on'.

I hear that they resolved it in the most recent updates. On the 19th Dec there was a MacBook and MBP update which was meant to fix.

Are you up to date as of today? Of course I'm assuming Leopard is your OS.

Yeah, up to date alright, I generally run the update in the background when I start up the machine. Thats what I did this morning, and it told me to restart it.

For the record; MBP 2.2 Ghz, 2GB Ram, 120 HDD, 10.5.1

Found the details on the update which was meant to fix,

    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macbookmacbookprosoftwareupdate11.html

You have that in your list of installed updates??
Or has your problem maybe only started since that update?

For me I haven't seen the problem since, but it was there for me since 10.5.0

    I'm running MBP, C2D 2.3GHz, 2GB RAM, 10.5.1

Interesting how it only started after I did the update this morning. I restated the laptop a few times and it's grand now.

I just started firefox up there and got this message. What the hell does it mean? You can't get virus checkers for macs, can you?

    '
    Google Error:

It means that Google seems to think (in error) that whatever you typed in wasn't typed in by a human but was submitted by some program or virus instead. Because of this, it hasn't answered the query to protect its services.

There are no proper, spreading viruses for Mac OS, though there are a few Trojan Horses which require the user to install them. There are Virus Checkers, however, which look for viral activity and can also spot Windows viruses (which obviously won't run on Mac OS X)

If you're running Classic, then there are viruses which spread on OS 9, but these are still quite rare.

I've noticed something strange on my MBP keyboard, too. The key illumination has gone weird. Around the time I ran the update, the illumination setting mysteriously changed to 'Never' go on. I switched it back to go on in dim light etc, but now, it doesn't illuminate very brightly, and every time I increase the illumination, it quickly reverts back to the lowest setting, which is really annoying because the keys are even less visible.

    Anyone experienced this?
