BMW 5 Series Estate or Mercedes E Class Estate

    I've got roughly €40k (Car + VRT) to spend on a 2004/05 UK import and I've narrowed it down between a 5 Series estate or a E Class estate. Right now I'm leaning towards the 5 series but the E Class estate is a 7 seater which can be handy. Anybody out there own any of the above or have any recommendations. TIA
