Yeah with the Tv you should be grand Just cut off the 2 pin plug and change it with one from here. As the real B-man said with Adapters it can get problematic sometimes trying to use them :p

I have been led to believe that stores are obliged to supply a correctly pinned cord with electrical appliances sold. Is this not the case here?

I would avoid doing any business with Pixmania. I ordered a GPS off them in Novemeber and it took 3 weeks of an email every day for them to send it. They would never give me a reason and just promise it would be sent the next day or just pass the email on. When I threatened to take it up with my CC company it was sent the next day. They also added a charge of nearly €30 to my cart for their Zen Engagment service without any warning and I'm still trying to get that back from them.

Ciaran500 you certainly were warned about the Zen Engagement service on checkout. Everyone is. You didn't read the check out screen correctly.

I ordered a Garmin from Pixmania on the 20 December adn it arrived by courier on the Christmas eve. Pretty happy with their service!

Quite right Chump. It's fairly obvious on the checkout screen. I've ordered several cameras for relations, an LCD PC Monitor, a scanner, umpteen MP3 plarers from them. Never a bother. Great company.

You're not warned about it. You confirm your shopping cart, choose your shipping method then it shows you an order summary with that added on, your are not asked if you want this charge added. Completely unacceptable.

This was my second order with them, the first went perfectly, arrived within 3 days but this was a disaster. Google pixmania problems and you will get pages of different results, if anything goes wrong they are an incompetent shambles of a company and its just not worth dealing with them.

Have to agree with Ciaran to a point. Although it does appear clearly on the checkout and you can easily remove it should not do this by default in my view, it should be an item that has to be positively ordered using a check box or similar as unfortunately not everybody pays full attention to the screen when ordering.

Agree, it's in there by default which I don't like but once you know that, it's not a problem - you just don't accept it, that's all.

Overall, I'm completely happy with them. Ordered a number of times from them & never had any problems.

I agree with you, don't get me wrong, it could certainly be deemed 'sneaky' but the fact is it is there, plain as day, and if one reads the screen correctly they will spot it.

I'd feel sorry for some computer illiterate getting stung with it but Ciaran should know better and also at least have the cop to admit it was a rookie mistake on his part and to stop whinging about it. :D

I don't think the pixmania guarantee choice ,is as simple as yes or no.

If you try and get rid of the guarantee ,by clicking what looks to be no. The order is cancelled. Making it seem like you have to order the goods with the guarantee.

I have the hang of it now myself ,but at first it was a little akward.
Nothing got to do with me being stupid ,I just wasn't use to a big website like pixmania ,trying to screw every last penny out of a sale.

I ordered a 500GB Mediaplayer from Pixmania back in August. It took 2 months to arrive. When it did it wouldnt connect to either of the computers in my house. I sent it back and since then it has been an ongoing struggle to get any response from them. I got one email back in early November and that has been all. I have tried to log onto my account on the pixmania site for the last week in order to send an email to them but the internet session keeps timing out.

On their zen engagement thing, it can be pretty tough to deselect it and it certainly should not be something that you have to un-choose....but what do you expect from Currys/PCworld/Dixons?

Someone asked about their telly....most tellys take a kettle lead and it's a relatvely simple procedure to bin the continental one and get an Irish one, rather than messing about with adaptors. Pixmania should supply the proper Irish/UK plugs though since they do so much business there.

On their sale; have to laugh at their "discounts" especially on the range of sony video walkmans....they're trying to sell you the older, less user friendly model for MORE than the price of the newer one that replaces it. That's only one example.
I picked up a new slim digicam from Amazon before xmas....the same camaera on pixmania at the time was over €50 more expensive...they are certainly not the bargain site they used to be IMO.

I've not bought anything from them this year for a few reasons; rising prices, less choice (especially for Irish customers) and an increasing amount of complaints abot their CS policy. I also have to say a big "WTF?" about their delivery charges schedule...try ordering two medium sized electrical items to see what I mean; it's cheaper to order and have delvered, those two items, separately, than it is to have them combined for shipping...idiots.

My LG 32inch lcd came with a 2 pin plug and an adapter that it fits into so I an happy enough in the end. I can only say I haven't found this model cheaper anywhere and I have no problems so far, touch wood. I nearly ordered with Komplett but decided against it as when I phoned to ask about whether they take the old tv, I got a whole lot of garbled nonsense about how komplett pay tax to the government and its up to them to provide the recycling facilities. I went with pixmania cause they have arrangements that old tv can be dropped to any dixons/ curry's/ pc world.

I agree about the zen engagement thing being a bit of a scam. Luckily I spotted it there just before paying.

I've never heard anyone complain about the dell 3-year guarantees and they are added by default too. In the states they even try and sell you guarantees in retail stores! Was the OP not happy to pay the final total at the time?

    exactly

if people are too stupid or have so much money that they dont even check the final price that is quoted on the page then i have no sympathy

Never had any issues with Pixmania, I saw the Zen Engagement thing on the checkout and removed it. I have bought a Toshiba HD-DVD player and a Logitech Harmony Remote from them both arrived within 2 days of order via DHL. Both orders arrived with adaptor plugs for the 2 pin european plug. I also bought a plasma from Germany and did get an adaptor but picked up an earthed adaptor in Powercity for 3 euros which was a better job.
Also do not cut off the EU 2 pin plug as this will void your guarentee.
