    Hi Guys,

Having a problem with my PS3 40gb and getting it to connect to online sessions.
I've it connected to my Eircom wireless network (netopia router), it'll connect to the net no problem and update without fuss, it'll sign into EA online etc but when I go to connect to an online session, on EA Skate I just get "Cannot connect to gaming session, please try again" over and over again, and with COD4 it just says "Downloading X X" and sits there for a while seemingly doing nothing.

Does anyone know how to fix this or even what the problem is?

you have to open ports on your router but even then it doesnt really help

Other than making sure you have the latest firmware, I don't see why there would be a problem. Make sure you're not d/ling anything else i.e. on your laptop or whatever as that might mess up your connection. One thing that caught me out before was I had a few demos d/ling in the background for a few hours.

Dunno about Skate but COD4 has a patch that it is probably trying to get.

Ok so I finally found out how to get into the router configuration panel, which I couldn't find before, and completely disabled the firewall and now it seems to be working.

    Thanks anyway!

BAD idea. The firewall is there for a reason :-) Depending on what the router supports, either:

    a) allow traffic on just the ports required (search forums to find out the port numbers?)
    b) add the ps3 to a DMZ that allows it access to the web, while still firewalling the rest of your network...

    (A) would be my preferred option.

Me too, is this a cod4 problem? I can play online no probs with all my other games, on a side note, just cleared one player, have to say, probably the best game I have ever played!
