Went to see the film I Am Legend last night and couldnt believe how much of a rip off it is of the 1971 film omega man....

    Exactly the same story line...
the main actor is a military scientist immune to the virus.

The victims of the virus can only come out at night.

The main actor Will smith in I Am Legend and the Main actor in Omega Man have the same name!!! Neville

He is going around capturing the zombies doing tests... driving sports cars around the city.

And the ending is exactly the same... He dies giving the cure to a surviver he meets in the film and off in the hills she goes to a small village of survivors!

Warner Bros. Pictures has owned the rights to the book since the 1970s. The studio first attempted adapting it was as The Omega Man (1971) with director Boris Sagal, starring Charlton Heston. Then as 'I Am Legend' with director Ridley Scott, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, which fell through when the production went over-budget. And then in 2002, Michael Bay was set to direct Will Smith, but they decided to make Bad Boys II (2003) instead.

Both adapted from the same book ;)

I must track down a copy of the Vincent Price version... It's supposed to stick closer to the books than the others.

Also... there's already a thread... and spoiler tags, please!

    Indeed, I thought the same.

    Great film though.

Can't believe they ruined that book with the Will Smith tripe.

maybe a thread merge would suit here?

OP, we have had lots of discussion on I am Legend and Omega Man on some other threads in this forum.

For the record, omega man is a bad rip off of the I am Legend book written in the 50's! :p
