    Soo

I stupidly had my medical check up on christmas eve (whoot normal blood pressure!) and the big negative that came back from the check up was that my blood suger was dancing around a very unsound number, so I've had to cut back on the luxeries.

One of those luxeries is my drinking, since most major beers and ciders come loaded in suger of some sort I can no longer partake in these drinks.

It looked like I would have to give up drinking alltogether, not a big problem but with the new year coming up and the problem of not being able to drink soft drinks instead I wanted to find a nice alternative.

Now stoic mentioned to me that vodka has no suger in it, obviously before you add a mixer like coke etc. So a possible alternative would be a vodka + juice combo.

Now what other spirits or drinks can I partake in?

I know Whiskey and vodka are on the list, what else?

You could do Vodka Lemon with those sugar free Mi-Wadis.

Light beers are generally low in sugar+calories (but mingin') so they may be an option.

Martinis, Vodka Martinis, Brandy are all delightfully low in sugar.

Oh and Sugar free -soft drinks like Sprite Zero make reasonable mixers.

Alot of juices have just as much sugar as soft drinks :( so they mightn't too suitable.

You can go for the whiskey - water/ice route and if whiskey is okay then most other spirts would be fine aswell, like gin or rum. My girlfriend is also limited by what she can drink so some thinking was in order, since vodka was the primary drink some sort of flavouring was in order. Vanilla and cinnamon where pretty good, just throw a vanilla pod or some cinnamon sticks (or both) in to a bottle of vodka and leave for a day or two. It's quite nice if like spirts neat and don't drink too fast :D

You can get sugar free girly drinks like Bacardi, but I don't know if any pubs/clubs do them.

Dry wine is low in sugars, i.e. they are all fermented out. Same with strong pilsner beers. I see a lot of women drinking "lite beers" thinking it is the way to go on a diet. Many stong pilsners have less calories per unit alcohol though, so it is a better way to go, and cheaper, and better tasting. i.e. a pint of lite beer might have 20% less calories and the pilsner, but the pilsner might be 30% stronger, so you drink less and get less calories overall if your usual drinking is stopped after acheiving a certain blood alcohol level/level of tipsiness.

The most lo-cal way to drink is unsweetened spirits on an empty stomach with diet mixers. Diet mixers have been shown to increase alcohol absorption, so less calories/drink will get you just as drunk.
