Turning off the touch pad!

Touch pad's drive me crazy when I'm trying to type anything... Trying to turn the function off on the new laptop that I have is proving to be a problem.

I have one of the Targa traveller 1562x2 (the one from Lidil)
Anyway, the thing has vista pre loaded as expected but I am about ready to give up trying to find where the controls to turn off / disable the touchpad are!
I remember good auld Xp having a simple procedure through the controll panel. But not with Vista, or at least not that I can find!
    Anyone have any ideas?

It's probably done by one of the function keys on the keyboard. Fn+F8 or similiar.
Look at the 'F' keys as there is probably a little image of a hand or the touchpad itself on it. Don't forget to hold down the Fn key when pressing the other 'F' key.
