TBH I think there are some really nice games on the horizon. I just hope there'll be some more original IPs as well.

Gran Turismo 5 (HD Concept demo is great )
Grand Theft Auto 4 (mmm, this series of games just keeps getting better every time, but for how much longer?)
Burnout Paradise (download and play this demo from the Store, you can play online against 3 other players, tis great craic indeed)

Haze, Infamous, Afrika, White Knight Story, Valkyrie of the Battlefield, Nobi Nobi Boy, Echochrome are all very interesting looking forthcoming new IPs, in addition to the ones you mentioned.

I suppose its partly my fault for being cynical or perhaps Sony's for its disappointing range of original IPs so far but the only one of the listed that I'm interested in is Haze and even so, I'm prepared for the worst there too!

Still though, if the game can be half as fun as the Timesplitter games were then you never know...

Some of Sony's biggest games this year:

Uncharted - Original IP
Motorstorm - Original IP
Heavenly Sword - Original IP
Folklore - Original IP
Resistance - Original IP

In fact, Ratchet & Clank is just about the only major Sony release I can think of this year that wasn't a new franchise.

In addition to Crackdown and Mass Effect being among the 360s best, and multiplatform games like Assassin's Creed and Portal, it's been a pretty damn good year for new IP I'd say. The start of a new generation is always when we see a lot of new franchises being established as everyone needs to write new engines anyway.

I have Uncharted and have praised it elsewhere, but HS is a poor [or rich] man's God of War, Motorstorm is poor compared to PGR4, Forza 2, DiRT etc. and Resistence has long been forgotten since COD4 and Warhawk.

As for Folklore, I rented it and will never even look at it again...

I doubt we'll see Gran Turismo 5 here in 2008. Maybe 2009

Ninja Gaiden 2 is an X360 exclusive.
