Does anyone know where I find this encryption code to get wireless on the PS3. It recognises it but I need some encrytpition code. Any ideas please?!! I have a Linksys Wireless-G, it has several different stickers with numbers, are any of these the code??
    Please!

Go into the setup on your router - normally thru your a browser on your PC - and find the WEP/WPA key there. Put that into your PS3.

I presume that you aren't taking the piss??

The encryption code is the wireless password of your router. Do you use wireless on a laptop with the wireless router? Do you enter a password to get access? Well if you do, you enter the same on the PS3.

Ask your sister then what the code/password she uses for the wireless? It won't be printed anywhere as it is user defined.

She's a spa, I rang her and she said she doesn't use one and when I told her she would have needed it to set it up she said she can't remember.

I can see the Christmas cheer in your family! Anyway if she didn't use one, and some routers don't turn on them by default, setup wireless again with the code section blank and see what happens.

I went through the settings in easy and sorted out the Ip address as automatic etc but when it tries to connect it fails saying the IP address has timed out or something.

If you don't have the password, that will happen? Do you have a laptop you can use to connect to the router with the network cable supplied with PS3. Login into the router and copy down the WPA/WEP password.

I don't have the laptop here. I'll have to wait a few days before she'll be back with the laptop so I can look.

Would getting a new router solve all this??

Get a small pin or something and hold in the reset button (on the back near the ports) and it'll reset all settings to default.

The problem is your sister can / won't tell you the wireless password.

I'm not the best with computers, if I set it to default what do I do with the code then? It says I need 10-26 minxture of letters and numbers. Do I make up my own?

    Lord give me patience!!
If you reset the router, it SHOULD reset to default wireless of BLANK, NOTHING..
Where does it saw to enter 10-26 letters, numbers? On PS3?? You never had a code in the first place anyway, you said your sister had it?

I'm the sister in question...there is no wireless password. The encryption code was by-passed when the router was installed. Anyway you don't need one. Got the playstation online in about 5 seconds. I wasn't here so she didn't know that.
