Anyone know a decent router to get for gaming? Preferably cheap as ****e. And excellent. But I'm willing to compromise. I hear Belkin ones are dreadful. I only need the signal to travel up two flights of stairs. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I have aBelkin and its great. Lifetime warranty, which they did have to fulfill after 2 years permanently on. Personally I'd avoid Linksys like the plague.

Try asking people who bought a WAG54G - there was hundreds of websites dedicated to it. Mine went back within a week.

the wrt54gs is cool coz they released the source code for it so theres a lot of different firmwares for it, some unlocking certain features that you'd only see on a high end router, not ur bog standard 80 euro one! mine as solid as a rock anyway!

So because you got one busted Linksys your going to bad mouth the brand? I have found them to have have solid performance and at a decent price.

Ehh buddy your the only one here saying anything negative about Linksys. The general consensus within this thread seems to be that they are excellent.

Oh and I have a Netgear unit myself.

Pity people don't read threads before commenting. Linksys had no answer to an ongoing problem for ages. Problem being dropping connection every 20-30 minutes. Brilliant for a router. It was so bad I wrote to Macformat who had given it a good review and pointed out the amount of complaints about it on the net. They actually apologised for not having done their background research on it first. And Belkin aren't perfect - for the router to break down in two years wasn't good, but at least I had a new one delivered within a couple of days.
