The day is nearly over, all the months of shopping and preparation. Money spent, was it worth it? Would you do it again? Do you have enough money for January?

Is it really worth the hassle, money, time 59 votes

Christmas sucked this year to be honest. I'm sitting alone in my room, bored out of my head, drunk, listening to my parents have a big argument. What a great way to spend Christmas.

Thats ****ty man but it happens.

I voted for worth every penny because I didnt really spend like crazy. And the christmas bonus helps towards and 2 weeks off work is always good.

The presents were definitely worth it, I like buying things that are beneficial to whoever gets them and myself. DVD box-sets and the like. Got my brother a nice charity present which really made me feel good, for what its worth. Disappointed I spent the day without my family but what can you do?

We got no crisps. I'd like crisps right now. A box of pringles would be perfect.

Well I didn't spend much and I'm loaded anyway, plus I had a grand ol time - So yes it's all worth it. Sitting on the laptop, watching TV with poppa sleeping in one chair and the sister getting boozy in the next. Nice food had - Wander around the cemetry this morning - All in all a text book day. Oh and I got a few nice pressies.

I think it was worth it, but I am a fan of Christmas in general.

The hype and spending and all that can be difficult to manage at times. I felt like I had to spend an absolute fortune to cover all the people I needed to buy presents for (about 15 in total). Having said that I received some nice gifts myself. My girlfriend got me some lovely things. I began to panic early - mid December thinking I would be financially ruined by the end of it. So when people asked me "what would you like" I insisted that "money" would be an excellent option. So now I've come out the other end with fewer gifts but more money, just to bail me out of difficulty.

Now I suppose the fact that one of my mates is getting married in a week's time doesnt help financially either. Between his gift, the stag, and the wedding itself, we're talking over a grand excluding christmas.

I think sometimes that people don't realise that not everybody is made of money. Having said that I don't regret spending a penny on the people I bought for this Christmas.

Can't get near a tv in my house for love nor money, what with the parents arguing over who watches what on one of them and my 18 year old brother playing with his new PS3 on the other, it's going to be a long night!!!

    Here's my day so far;

The brother & myself were dragged out of our beds at 9.50 this morning by my mam for 10.00 mass was 10 minutes late in the end.

returned from mass and opened presents - a top from the brother and a ring from the parents

went up to visit family graves at 11.30

visit granny no.1 from 12.00 to 1.00 and endured having to answer the same questions every 5-10 minutes ( the old memory is going fast)

went to visit granny no.2 for dinner at 1.30 and stayed till 4.00, met extended family and exchanged news - got 20 euro christmas pressie from the nana, that's it everyone else stopped exchanging gifts 10 years ago.

came home and i just about managed to watch 1st episode of Eastenders before everyone took over the tv's - i really wanted to see that 2nd half!!

so now i'm just wallowing around the house looking for something to do and decided to come on this for awhile & see what everyone else was up to.

    Pretty bored myself.

But there is tomorrows day in the pub to look forward to. A few good soccer matches to watch and maybe back a few horses. Oh and the turkey sandwiches.

Not too bad. My little sisters were all excited about Santa so that was kind of special. I've stuffed myself pretty much all day and I've been picking at the leftovers non-stop.

The family have gone to bed now so it's me, a (very nice) glass of red and the PC, soon to be the telly.

It was alright. I spent feck all, ate a huge dinner, tons of chocolate and junk and got some cool presents too. I don't really like christmas anymore, I wasn't home for the last two but all in all it was alright I suppose.

Yeah that answer works for me as well.
No debts to speak of, still a few quid in my pocket to get me to the next paycheque. Nobody went short and everyone I know and love is still alive this year so all in not bad. Some people really do go way OTT though...

I'm feeling good tonight because I had a decent breakfast around 9 - then had a wander round before the dinner - Which I didn't go ott on. Then just had 1 sandwich tonight - Amazing how much better I feel having not eaten my body weight in pure ****e (Crisps and Chocolate)

Think of the power you'll have next year if they divorce. Yup, best gift ever :)

Totally worth it... My mam burst into tears when I gave her my present. It was quite the soppy b*llocks/sentimental one.

    She liked it.

Agree, but these people aren't necessarily made of money themselves. People go extremely OTT and think that a present to someone is worthless unless it is a certain size and/or price, and end up almost putting themselves into debt, as well as forcing other people to do the same.

I refuse to get presents for anyone other than my immediate family, and a result, only get presents from them too, and I will always stick to this. And the fact that I'm a student means I can get away with spending no more than €20 per person for presents. That, combined with the fact that I won €70 in poker after paying €5 in means that my greatest expense was on pints in the pub.

Gambling to pay off debts ftw
