    I have a HP laptop, fairly decent machine, running perfect and all of a sudden it just goes blank, the lights are still on etc so i thought it was the screen. Anyway i turned it off and tried turning it on again but only the orange light came on and the fan, nothing else. Tried it a few times and it came on again, green light on then gets to windows is starting up then the screen goes blank again but all the green lights remain on,
    Anyone know what could be wrong?
    any help appreciated

    dead battery and power lead gone?

    If you can try another power lead, test it, they go v. regularly on most laptops.

    its not that, battery is sound in it and it will power up if i plug it in with the battery out so there is power getting to it
