    I put my photography skills to the test today with my new canon powershot g9.

    Here are a few shots i took with it, nothing fancy. Tell me what you think!

    I like the last one. Is it really your X-mass shot from your window? If so, I have only one thing to say - "You lucky bastard!" (quotation from Monty Python's Life of Brian) :-)
    Good for you.

    However, I think that there is the same issue like with other compact cameras - focal point. I don't know if I can't see straight, but it looks that you didn't have 100% control of the point for autofocus. I don't know what shall I look at. I am talking mainly about the first picture. It just looks that camera had chosen something and focused on that point.

    The outside one's are nice, don't like the dog pictures that much though

    Congratulations on your new toy :)

    You do need to watch the focus point though, gives the closer images a fuzziness when they aren't sharp on what might be considered the actual focal point of the image. Also worth having a think about what you're trying to capture, and playing with the settings to find out what puts that across best.

    You might want to go a bit easier on the inline images in the thread too, please? Or at least a dialup warning in the thread title. Thanking you muchly :)
