I know that this might seem like a bit of a daft thread, but I was given the loan of a Wii for Christmas from a friend, and I've spent the last few hours playing with it.

It's an absolute blast. Simple and intuitive. Finally I can see what all the fuss is about.

Good luck to all the kids who will wake up to one tomorrow morning.

What games you get with it?

Really basic games, Wii sports, Big Brain Academy, some flying game and another. I haven't had a chance to try them all out yet.

got mine last year and had a great 2 months with it, it then become boring with a real lack of games and other commitments that i had.

i recently got mario galaxy and realised that nintendo make the best games without a doubt and have fallen back in love with the wii.

i also finally splurged out on the virtual console as there were a list of games that i finally wanted.

    super mario 3
    super mario world
    mega man
    street fighter II
    bomberman
    f-zero

i was brought up with these games with my NES and SNES and it's great replaying them. there are other games i want to get but i could only afford getting 5000 points but i still have a 1000 left to spend but i don't know what to get next.

    Santa brought me one.

VERY impressed. Was surprised at just how small it is (and how big the transformer thingy is!). I'm not normally a fan of consoles, I had a Playstation and used it for about a fortnight before it started its new career as a dust gatherer, but the Wii will get quite a bit more use, I think.

Got Wii Sports (obviously) and Super Mario Galaxy. Played most of the sports last night. Boxing is hilarious, two drunk blokes punching the air at 3am makes for interesting viewing. Can't wait to get stuck in again later today. Even Wifey enjoyed it. Tennis is hilarious.

Will have to give Super Mario Galaxy a go later on too.

Lastly, I've heard mixed things about Call of Duty 3, I'm a fan of the franchise on the PC. Would anyone recommend it on the Wii?

I would, it was one of the first games I got for the wii and I hated it for the first night, because I couldn't get my head around the controls. But after a nights sleep, I went at it fresh the next day and slowly picked it up. After I'd gotten to grips with the looking around, the rest just fell into place pretty quickly. After that, I enjoyed that game alot. Throwing the grenades was pretty satisfying, as was the sniper rifle.. having to keep your arm as straight as possible before you shoot..great stuff.

The only sucky experience of having the Wii was the fact that we had to buy one extra remote €70 in Smyths for the two parts. The sore part was when I saw the generic controllers in Game for something like €10 each.
