ipod classic dark screen

    am setting up an ipod classic for a friend and when i hook it up to itunes it synchs up ok but the screen is very difficult to see. it has all the appearances of the backlight / colour of the display is not working. i can see and go to the settings and have the brightness up to 100 percent but the screen is still very dark. i have done software restore but still no difference. anyone have any ideas?

    The screen isn't exactly super-bright anyway but you've pretty much tried what needs to be tried.It may have a problem and needs to be replaced.

    Is this problem just when it is connected to computer?
    Have you tried a reset? Hold Middle+Menu Button (I think).

    What did the Apple support say? Maybe it needs a hard reset. I doubt it though. sounds like its faulty.

    tried hot and cold reset! no joy!! it doesn't run hot, but does appear ok in itunes, cant really figure it out, maybe just a problem with the screen. it is the same way when turned on and when hooked up to the computer, screen just dark!
