How to get faster time next marathon

    Hi All

I did the Dublin marathon just gone. Twas my 1st marathon, n really enjoyed it. I'd hoped to do 3.45 and did 3.16. I'd been trying to pace myself at a mile p\h slower than usual runs, as is suggested for marathon, but found I couldn't do that pace, and had plenty of energy the whole way through.
I'm thinking it'd be a good challenge if I could knock 20 mins off that time and come in under 3 hours. Thing is I'm hardly getting out at the moment. I know I won't be keeping up a marathon training regime until some months before the run, and even then with a 8 month baby at the moment, I know I'll only be out 2-3 nights running, as was before.
I won't be able to really push my pace at the moment with such little training available. Is there anything I can do that will contribute to having a faster pace? Or is it just keep running, and when training regime and fitness allows pick up the pace?

    Cheers

    Patrick

    hey Patrick,
if you are struggling to get out just keep the base fitness there and run 30mins plus a day,add the odd tempo run in few weeks and before you know it your fitness will be back agian.maybe give yourself a 5k or 10k race to aim for?
