FTA Satellite Receiver from Maplin

I got a catalogue in the post today from Maplin with their sale items and noticed this:

Does anyone know whether this is in any way decent or will it even work over here? It's €245.49 in the catalogue.

The shops in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Belfast & Galway have some of the satellite receivers.

All the receivers will work here. You want minimum of 65cm dish, ideally 80cm. Or bigger for some Satellites.

That model is for HD.

Only FTA HD channel is BBC HD at the minute. There may be C4 & ITV service shortly. You also need an HD TV. It will of course receive all the ordinary FTA channels on an ordinary TV.

You need LNB, Dish, coax etc too.

I've been eying that one up too. One US reviewer liked it and said it had blind scan.

Reasons to wait:

New receivers in Q1/2 2008 with full EPG compatible with the new UK package.

PVR functionality would be nice.

Yes a BBC/ITV Freesat box mit HDD. Mmmmmm

But mayb not till March or so.

Blind scan more use on Atlantic feeds etc. Not much use on 28.2
It's al;so very slow.

Well for just BBC HD til March, the wait will no doubt be worth it and I would think price could come down too particularly if you can buy one in UK and bring back
