I see when i went to check in Ryanair are displaying a notice saying it is a policy of theirs not to overbook flights, blah, blah, does anyone know if they are lying here or have they changed their policy because as far as i was aware they, like most airlines are guilty of doing this.

The majority of airlines will overbook based on past no-show statistics etc.

I often print out my crew info sheet to see 160+ booked passengers when the aircraft only holds 156. In saying that, I've only ever seen someone booted off once.

At my airline the policy is last passengers to check in are denied boarding if there are no volunteers.

I don't think Ryanair do ..... at least I have never seen a flight where they looked for people to volunteer, unlike other airlines....

AFAIK it's actually something Ryanair haven't done as policy - certainly not for the last couple of years.

I've made a few quid out of it from time to time when the auctions started....
