Ok, I search on youtube a fair bit - just to have a bit of music going on in the background.
I have an account on it but never log in to it. Haven't used it in 4months at this stage.

    The weird bit:
Every time I type in www.youtube.com into the address bar youtube loads up with me logged in, on someone elses account.

Like I'll have the username and all the setting and logout option in the top right corner. I can edit their profile or just leave comments as them. (I don't by the way). It's a different account every time.

Is this just some security issue they haven't sorted out yet, or what?

obviously, whoever was using your computer before you, logged in, forgot to logout - their session hasn't expired.

afaik boards.ie used to allow a person to be logged in permanently, now the session expires automatically after 5-10 minutes..not sure exact time.

i would guess you're in public internet facility.

No, it's a personal computer - my laptop - that this happens with. I'm the only one that uses it and I clear the cache and temporary internet files after every session (spyware/habit etc)

    It's an external problem

    very strange....

Is there a proxy server (Like at a workplace) in between you and the
    net connection?

It could be holding on to the cookie acting as a client.
That would be pretty strange behavior but not unheard of with some proxies.

Same thing happens to me, I use youtube but never had an account, and it's my own laptop that I rarely let anyone near

When I visit youtube I'm signed in as someone

That is very strange...I suppose if you have a backdoor infection that could be responsible, but I really doubt that.

There is probably some simple reason for it though

What's the name of the accounts. They could just be guest accounts or something.

Report it to the guys @ youtube aswell. If it's a security issue make them aware of it.

Sounding like a spyware issue. But just in case, if you are using IE, have you tried clearing the "Autocomplete" in the Content tab? warning - This will remove a lot of saved passwords, website sign-ins, google searches, etc (in case these are important to you).
