Im looking to setup a little studio at home just for recording my own stuff, I play guitar primarily but I would like to incorporate samples, synths, drum beats and the like into my stuff.

Can you recommend a setup that would suit the above needs and aint to expensive (not looking for top o the line stuff), I have a decent pc and a 1212m emu soundcard. So preferably the set up would include these.

    Thanks

What software were you thinking about?
The 1212's a nice little sound card, you should hang on to that for the moment.
You are going to need a mic pre-amp, a set of monitors and something to control them with, as well as a microphone or two.
Instead of a mic pre and monitor controller I'd think about buying a little mixing desk. A little Yamaha or a Mackie or something like that. It really depends on what sort of money you are thinking about spending. The baby mixer isn't as sexy as the outboard kit but I still think it's a good way to start out.
Choosing monitors I'd consider factoring in the cost of a pair of stands into the price if you are not going to make your own. And cables are going to be 15% of your budget if you aren't going to make your own either.
Unfortunately, it all depends on the amount of cash you are spending.

Software wise theres a lot of free stuff you could try.

Loopazoid is a free sample player, AM Virtuadrum is a free drum machine and
comes complete with a couple of hundred drum samples to get you started.
Synths, there must be thousands of freebie ones to be had on the net.
I know theres a lot of people on here that are big time into synths so can better advise than I.

    Cheers

    Cheers for the replies,

My budget is aroung the 700e mark, I have an sm 57 and a crappy seinheisser mic so that should cover me on the mic front. I'm a bit lost when it comes to the interface so many options out there.

    Like I said,
The interface is fine I wouldn't change that for a while, unless you want to get into recording more than 2 tracks at once.
