i have a mac, the firewall is turned off. Using the eircom netopia 2247-02 (wireless). Ive tried using transmission and azureus, but both the ports are blocked. (unfotunately utorrent not available on mac yet)
ive opened the ports thru the nat settings on the router
    looks like this:
    Service Name *Trans
    Protocol TCP
    Global Port Range 50001 - 50001
    Base Host Port 50001

also have it open with udp protocol and have a static ip, but still getting errors that the ports are blocked.Ive tried other ports too, just in case eircom had them blacklisted.
Has anyone got torrent programs to work with eircom bb, and if so can you give me any help?

    thanks

I've had no issues running Shareaza. Have you checked the firewall on your PC itself? That might be the issue, not the router.

ok, i just turned the router firewall off too , and now the ports are open...what could i be doing wrong? Also if i use a software firewall, do yo think its ok to leave the eircom router firewall off...or is this a bit dodgy?

Here's a simple guide. If you are the only one using the wireless LAN then a software firewall would be fine.

    Hi,
Im using Bittorrent on eircom Broadband with same wireless router. I was running Norton 360 antivirus/firewall but had to uninstall it to get bittorrent to work, turning of firewall didnt work. Download speeds are rubish. can only get 40 kb/s max, thats with static ip and the port opened on the router in nap.
    eircoms broadband just sucks.

Your slow torrent speeds are not Eircom's fault...
