7th World University Archery Championship 2008 July 7-10
    Tainan County, Chinese Taipei

There's a recurve and compound section, unfortunately i just noticed that it says entries to be sent back no later than January 4.

The details are on a link through the FITA and fisu website.

I'm sure there may be a chance of getting late entries if their is anyone shooting high enough scores. (I'm sure there are a few)
This is something i had looked into while i was still in college but never got going, a couple of us saw this as the next logical direction step in Irish intervarsity archery.

    I am up for it

These are last years results, looks like if we sent a team we could do well enough (scores are based on a 70m 720 round)

Ok my self and Joe have been talking and we reckon it would be good to get a team together for this. We came up with this as an idea for selecting a team. If anyone has any other ideas post them! We dont know if this is definatly going to go ahead, and even if it does there is a strong posibility that we may have to fund ourselves

    Hi everybody,
Joe Gill from NUIG here, as you may have heard the 7th World University Archery Championship is taking place in Tainan, Chinese Taipei, July 7th to 10th next year. I feel its a great opportunity for all enthusiastic young archers to get some experience and represent our country. Here is the link for information on the competition : http://www.fisu.net/site/page_1340.php . The organisers however have set certain criteria we have to meet, which are as follows:

    * Must be a national of the country they represent.

    * Must be at least 17 and less than 28 on January 1st of 2008, the year of the Championship (must be born between January 1st of 1980 and December 31st of 1990)

    * Must be officially registered for and pursuing a full-time course of study at an university or similar institute whose status as an university is recognized by the appropriate national academic authority of their country, or former students of the mentioned institution who have obtained their academic degree or diploma in the year preceding the Championship.

Obviously not everyone can enter. We're allowed up to 12 competitors.
Here are some of the proposed criteria for selection:

    1. The team will be picked based on scores achieved in the IV league between September 2006 and December 2007
    2. Each archers highest score during this period will be taken
    3. The top 3 archers in each category, male recurve, female recurve, male compound and female compound, will be offered a place to shoot at the Championships provided they have reached the minimum score.
    4. The minimum score to be achieved in order to gain a place on the team is 500 for recurve and 530 for compound
    5. The archer must be attending a college which is affiliated to the Colleges and Universities Sports Association of Ireland (CUSAI)

Thank you for taking the time to read this! If anyone is interested either hit me an email back or post something on the thread on boards.

    Thanks again!

    Joe
