Spending advice - invasion of privacy?

I was listening to the news today, and heard some group suggest that people do not spend too much this Christmas, so they don't take out too much loans.

I just thought it a bit much. The world is stressful enough, we feel as if we are becoming more like robots, more caged, ie airport security, etc. They are always telling us what we should do.
The only thing we are getting out of working, our pay, and enjoy, they are now giving their opinions about.
What people do with their own money, time is their own business. If they get themselves in debt, so be it. They'll enjoy themselves. Having some arze'aul infringing on our personal choice is too much...

But it does become everyone's business.
What if I'm in a credit union and lots of members start defaulting on their loans.
That's partly MY money that they have wasted.

What does this have to do with privacy? Nobody's demanding to see your bank statements.

If you don't like the advice, ignore it.

err, yeah... that's why it's called 'advice'

also, of all the things said on the radio, the one i would take least offense to is 'spend less money'

if you wanna spend, spend: how's your privacy invaded?

If someone is so incredibly stupid as to confuse a person offering advice on the radio with an invasion of privacy then I would question if they are mentally competent to manage their own finances. A civilised society might well make such a person a ward of court, on the grounds of diminished responsibility, and dole them out a bit of pocket money each week.

LMAO, harsh but on point ;-)

Most radio stations have ads telling you to listen to them. But you don't have to. You can change the radio station to one you want to hear, one that says spend spend spend if you like.

Man, I just found out that a friend's brother has effectively begged, borrowed and tricked his poker-addicted ass into over 140K of debt... he's even cleaned out his retired parents: while his father goes down the nasty road of alzheimers and parkinsons, he's conned his mother out of her life savings. That, as they say in the hiphop on the telly, is cold, gee.

IMHO, there should be more ads like this on the ****ing radio - you don't have to listen if you don't want: but some people seriously need to be told to slow down on borrowing in this country. I'm still in shock at the above news: I'm no genius with money myself but at least I only screw up with my own money...
