i hate reading the eircom router logs.

I had this a while back for net use. PPP no sync is your telephone line link lost. For me it happened 2 ways.

    1. Child yanked the telephone cable from the socket and it was just hanging on. Check your line connections. Especially any new ones just laid that the router is connected to.

    2. Weird one but my sky+ box gave trouble and I dialled out on it as requested to check it's lines and it dropped the router off the net. Both are connected to the same telephone line entry point. I would have thought a DSL line should share it's connections without fault.

it's a pity the logs do not use correct time stamps as it would be easier to check back over all other equipment on the phone line.

i only connect the sky box to the phone line when im ordering off sky box office, could it be a ****ty dsl cable? (going from router to phone socket)

Thats what it was for me, replaced the cable from socket to router with a brand new one and massive improvement.

can you tell me where i can get a REALLY long high quality cable?

what u could try doing is placing the router at the best phone jack for DSL quality .. usually in the hall.

Then simply plug the router into a homeplug and make every plug point in your home a network connection. I use the 85mbps version and find them fine.
