UPC supposedly have the BBC Two channel in their analogue cable offer, but I cannot find it.. What channel number do they broadcast on? I am in Sandyford area.

This would be better suited on the cable board.

It's 224MHz .. don't know what channel number that is, sorry, but many TV's allow you to enter frequencies manually for tuning.

Trouble is though (as I understand it) that the frequencies used on Irish cable don't exactly correspond to the standard channel numbers, so it's difficult to give exact channel numbers. Anyway, BBC 2 lies between BBC 1 and Sky One, so you could tune to BBC 1 and search from there upwards, manually if necessary until you see it. If you get to Sky One, you've gone too far.

    BBC 1 - 216 MHz
    BBC 2 - 224 MHz
    Sky One - 232 MHz

    Moved to Cable/MMDS.

Note as well, you're in Sandyford, part of the Dundrum area is very for rather obscure historic reasons actually Chorus rather than NTL, while they're the same company now the frequency is likely to be different on the Chorus network.

Since you're in Sandyford I wouldn't be surprised if RTÉ's DAB mux on Three Rock is completely overpowering the BBC 2 signal.

my dad just bought a new dvd recoder and we cant tune bbc2 in on it... ,here on the northisde, it just skips by in manual setting, it let you go directly to 224mhz ?

we tried it with different cables it didn't work

all I've found about the player in Ireland is can't find bbc2 threads...

can't find anything else about it, i wonder is there any other way to tune it, we could get bbc2 with the old vhs recorder

I would definately agree with Karsini here and suggest that your tuner is unable to pick out a (damaged) BBC2 signal from the *two* DAB multiplexes that are transmitting on similar frequencies. Is the cable network in your area overhead or underground?

well what does it matter if it is, why does the vhs pick it out and not this new player, the players reviews are ****...

If its overhead it picks up far more external interference.

The new player will likely have a weaker analogue tuner; quality really has gone downhill...

well its annoying people expect things to work, my parents a bringer the player back to the shop I think, I don't know if they'll look for another, but how one would find one that works?
