No, you'll have to check it in.

It's a liquid so security won't allow it. Check in staff will tell you this anyway.

Only way is to go through security and buy whiskey inside but maybe they'll not allow spirits to be sold if you're flying to Alba.

I assume you mean what's the point in bringing whiskey to Scotland? Well they make whisky there and that's different to our Whiskey... theirs tastes a little like an ashtray :D

So im assuming its a bottle that can not be found in your average tesco in scotland.

a bit of the point,, but the machines they have for scanning for liquids are scary. no idea how they work exactly, but when i was in America it picked up a drop (smaller than a one cent) of clue that was in a cardboard box

I have a fairly similar question......

I'm going to be flying to Vancouver via Chicago in the new year. Does this mean I won't be able to purchase duty-free spirits at Dublin airport and get them through security at Chicago?

buy the whiskey on the plane

AFAIK, you can buy your Booze in the Duty free and they seal it in a security bag so that you can bring it on board.

This is how it works in Schiphol anyway, afaik this is the norm for most airports.
I'd ring and check if you can buy it there.

    Info on the US here:
    http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/duty_free_travel_alert.shtm

Postage from the US to Ireland may well be dodgy, if you want to risk it use USPS (United States Postal Service) as using TNT, DHL or Fedex will get it checked at customs and they'll ring you looking for a duty fee.
