Stair Case Baluster Joint Loose

    Hi,

The handrail on our staircase is very loose just where the main straight part meets the end spiral handrail at the bottom - (the stairs ends with four or five balusters connected to a spiral handrail).

I believe that if I look underneath the handrail about a foot back up the stairs I will see a small hole where this can be tightened?

Is this the way to go ahead as the hole is plugged with a wooden biscuit?

Photo added to clarify the problem. You can see the loose joint as a gap in the top right of the photo
