Every time i turn on the wii there seems to be dead pixels on the wii menu and when playing games. Its seems to be with wiiconnect 24 and overheating of the graphics card. Has anyone got this problem and did they get send it back to nintendo to get it fixed? I found this video on youtube for those who don't understand what i'm taking about:

Yeah, that happened to mine back in July. I contacted Nintendo Support by email explaining it pretty close to how you have and letting them know I had VC content on it. They got back to me telling them to post it to them with a photocopy of the receipt and in two weeks I had a replacement console and was able to redownload the VC games.

I hadn't noticed it until I got RE4 which was really bad - then I started seeing it on the wii menu and using the browser.

It was a fairly painless experience as far as customer support goes. You may as well wait until after Christmas before getting in contact with them at this stage.

ya i'll wait until january anyways.do you have to sent it to them or will they pick up the wii? i have loads of vc games on my wii aswell. has the problem occured with your new wii? i heard to turn off wiiconnect or something to prevent it

No, you have to send it to the UK. Sending just the console by registered post cost about 15 euro if memory serves, but I figured it was better than losing the VC content.

The problem hasn't reoccured, but I've kept wiiconnect24 since I got it.

You'll need to save your game saves to a memory card, and you can save your miis to the remotes - or share them with a friend and then get them back.

Thanks for the info. Do you just send the console and the receipt of when you bought it? Is that all or i'm forgetting something?

Yeah. The console and a photocopy of the receipt (hang on to the original) and as they never gave a reference number I printed out the emails and a note explaining the problem just to be safe. As I say, it was all pretty smooth and well handled by them - no hassles and it came back pretty quickly.

Sorry that should have read that I've kept wiiconnect24 off since I got it.

Hmm. I don't want this happening so I might just start turning off the console instead of leaving it on for Connect24
