Yup, its a hunters bow but it can be used in target!

The bow specifics (poundage, A2A, drawlength) and the likes are all legal for target and other FITA rounds though so you're grand. This is a good hunting bow I reckon, but hunting is illegal in Ireland (and Europe far as I know), so to adapt it to competition archery might cost a little more in gear - but its easily done.

If you want to ask Christmas Present Givers for some stuff to do this then tell them to swing along to some of the online archery suppliers (www.archeryshop.ie, www.altservices.co.uk, www.quicks.com) and get you a long-arm stabiliser to replace the silencer one on the front of your bow. Some kind of a release aid would be useful as well - don't break the bank on that though to start off with. As time passes and the finances recover from Christmas, then a non-hunting sight and scope will really help matters.

Good bow, just needs to be adapted to shoot competition archery rather than taking down grizzlies!

How much it cost? Emmmmmmmmmm ................... 400 maybe???

Welcome to the archery party :)!

You're going to need to get a FITA-legal sight as well... multi-pins are verboten.

    coolio :)

well personally i love it :D
ill probobly be starting with The Galway archery club early next year,
and it is a hunting bow, i was lectured by the shop assistant for an hour about killing poor innocent animals haha

but bows and were originally invented for hunting so its all good :D:(

so as far as competitions go its a pretty good bow?
ive been using a longbow up to now so this is a pretty big jump

and it cost €475 in duffy's of galway... good deal?

thanks for all the replies btw, very helpful info here :)

so as far as competitions go its a pretty good bow?

Its grand as long as its set up well. The bow itself is still a bow, so it'll shoot arrows well. In target archery though, accuracy is everything - hunting not so much as the kill zone is pretty big relative to a competition target (granted, it probably moves about a bit but ya know .......). Because of this, the greatest bow in the world will shoot like a bag of sh** if its not tuned and matched to correct arrows.

I'm sure the crew in Galway Archers will tell ya what ya need to do to get the bow up to competitive standard, but the short short version would be

    New longarm
    Release aid
    Sight and FITA legal scope
    Matched arrows

But don't worry, all these things will only make you shoot more accuratly, they don't limit the potential of the bow, only maximise it!

    It's an addictive sport - beware :p

tearing up the back garden is fun though, ive got all the basic equiptment but i need a release aid methinks, my fingers are wearing away even with the damn €20 leather glove >_< lol

gota wait until christmas morning to open up the compound :(:(:(
