A bit late for this thread, but ah well.

So England out for 81? Didn't see any of it (I generally sleep at 4am), hoping to catch the highlights later on. A Sri Lanka win would see them rise to 2nd in the test team rankings. Are they worth their place? Heard some pundit on Sky saying England should win cos they belong in the 2nd place but I find it extremely hard to agree. Haven't been playing well at all in the past couple of years, and are fairly useless on tour.

England have been a bad side since The Ashes this time last year. A series win against the West Indies is nothing to write home about, so losing at home to India, and inept performances in the World Cup and now in Sri Lanka.

For all of Monty's praise before, he's not getting the wickets. Quite often folk heroes are never great players.

There are too many players still riding high on what happened 2 years ago, and still enjoying the high life.

It was priceless to see what Bob Willis would begin with in the highlights, dumbfounded shock was a new one on me!

BTW, I recommend the TMS podcast, for a summary with Agnew and Simon 'The Analyst' Hughes. Good stuff there.

One would wonder how they managed to win the one-day series in Sri Lanka the way things have gone. Especially considering that they are generally worse at the shorter form and SL are better.

what did Shane Warne say to Ian Bell that in australia? he got an obe/mbe for doing f all lol.

The English team is extremly poor IMO. There was a time when I actually thought england could progress on but injuries to Simon Jones/ Harmisson/ Hoggard has been bad for them.

Harmisson is just not the same bowler...he is so inconsistent.
Ryan SideBottom has got to be the unluckiest bowler I have ever seen...he bowls some excellent stufffthat just never catch the edges.

Batting wise I have no idea what happened to Kevin Pietersen. I thought with him Bell and Collingwood that england had an excellent middle order but he has been getting out so cheaply as of late.

Wicket Keeping England need to give Chris Read a chance. Matt Prior is just not a test match wicket keeper.
