Anger Management

I have noticed lately that I've turned from an easy going laid back guy to someone who just flips at the slightest thing.. I'm losing my temper, shouting, getting into arguements with people close to me, saying things I dont mean just to get at people and actually causing people to be scared of me, my girlfriend being one.

This is really starting to worry me, it doesnt take much to set it off and I want it to stop now, its actually starting to scare me.. :(

I've been seriously considering attending anger management sessions with a local counseller who uses neuro-linguistic programming, a type of hypnotherapy..

Has anyone ever had to do this and if so, what did they think of it.. Did it work?

I'm getting desperate at this stage and I really dont want to lose my girlfriend or friends over this.. :(

    Dude,

My girlfriend just left me because of my anger issues. Believe me, I know the feeling of your blood surging into your face and the tension in your arms where you what to tear something - anything to pieces with your bare hands.

I have done some goddamn stupid things because of my temper and believe me if you genuinely think you have a problem admitting it is probably the best thing you can do.

What you need is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. There are a few places in dublin that provide anger management and it is certainly worth looking into. Make an appointment with your GP and ask to be referred to a therapist or a psychologist.

A word of warning. Dont fall into the trap of thinking a few days off work or a holiday will fix it. Once you have the rage you wont shake it off that easily, its addictive - once you have given into the urge to scream, shout and thrash everyone around with words or fists you need help to get back on track.

Maybe this is happening because you are stressed?
