dual booting with vista ultimate?

    basically i know there are programmes out there so that i cn run ultimate in a nice out of the way window in the corner but does windows need to be installed on the laptop itself or can i install it on an old external that im going to be using for time machine aswell while also having any windows programmes installed on the same external?

    i wana run it so i can play a bit of poker from time to time

    If you're using a VM like Parallels or VMWare Fusion, you can put the HD image anywhere you like (I think this is how you want to do it), if you want to dual boot, then Vista needs to be installed on an internal disk (this would need you to shut down OSX and boot into Vista).
