What can the guards do if you get caught driving on a third provisional unaccompanied?

Technically you are breaking the law. You could be issued with a summons and fined €1000 (afaik). I think there are penalty points involved too.

The reality? Well, a good few of my mates have been stopped, had their licence checked and waved on. So its up to you if you want to take the risk. Personally, I'm on my third provisional and I never drive alone. I know the one time I will I'll get shafted.
