A3 printer purchase advice?

I`ve got to purchase an A3 printer for some home nixer use fairly lively, mainly for printing off maps plans etc., probably 5 copies a day.
Al I have currently is a worthless A4 Lexmark all in one that came from Dell and is getting a little cranky with increasing years.

I was recommended the HP 1220C as being virtually bulletproof, but it seems to gone off the market and the replacement model 1280 is apparantly a problematic paper eating monster.

    A few other points.
I reallt need an A3 copier if possible,
I think? laser is unnecessary for my paltry usage,
I only need a basic scan andd fax facility,
    Do I get another cheap all in one A4 (c.€100 ) and a printer only A3 ( c. €400 ) ?
Or are there affordable A3 all in ones (budget c. €800 ) ?

Any experiences good or bad? (Much appreciated)

The big stores don`t seem to do A3 ( I know they have offers from time to time but... ) while the small ones are talking 4 figures!

A3 is not a mass product hence the price differential.
All in one units are a couple of grand.
Laser is unneceswsary and expensive unless one is chucking out large quantities of bw.
    Separate colour inks are important.
    Epson drinks ink.

    Basic models are satisfactory and reasonable;
    Shop €500-600+
    Superstore €400-500
    Online €300-400

    I bought a canon pixma ix4000 from pixmania.ie for 280 + 15 delivery.
Excellent reviews and highly recommended by a friend.

    Time will tell...
