iPod Touch Problem

When i connect my iTouch to my computer everything works fine, the computer detects it, iTunes detects it, alls good. Unfortunately when I connect it to another computer it isn't detected by the computer (well it is but it doesn't mount) or iTunes.

Anyone have any idea how to get other computers to detect my iTouch?
Never had this problem with my 3rd Gen.

p.s. I have my iTouch set to manually update, not synch (don't know if that would affect it)...

    Cheers folks!

How about the other way around? - Does the iPod show that it is charging or show any signs that it has picked up the machine.

It does, as i said it is detected (I saw it in storage devices or some other program... can't remember what) it just doesn't mount.

Not an ideal thing to be suggesting but have you tried just plugging it out and trying again a few times? I had my Touch replaced, for other reasons, but the first model I had used to do this. I'd plug it out and change usb ports a few times, it would eventually mount, but might have to give it up to 3 or gos.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the USB cable.
It would only work reliably with the cable that came with it, not with an older cable from a rev. 5 iPod.

    Hope this helps.

    I'll give it a shot

I thought that could be the problem so I tried it with the cable it came with, but no luck.

Unfortunately this iTouch was a present from Hong Kong so I'm not sure about having it repaired/replaced...

Doesn't sound like it need repair if it works in one computer but not the other.

Are they both macs? If so are they running the same version of iTunes and a recent version of OS X? Sometimes older versions have problems with newer iPods.

Both Macbooks, same iTunes and OS X

    Cheers for the link!

Had this problem recently, be sure you apply all the OS X updates to both machines and install the most recent version of iTunes. In my case the "iPod Touch" was recognised ok but iTunes didn't start - iPhoto did though ! Applying the OS X updates to the MacBook cured the problem - this MacBook had the latest iTunes installed as well but this didn't cure the problem only the OS updates did.

Doesn't sound like there's anything at all wrong with the iPod, just that your Mac doesn't have the most recent "drivers" if that's the term.
