    More info, please.
    • What file system is the iPod's drive formatted with?
    • What file format are you trying to open? No DRM-laiden tracks, I hope.
    • What application are you using to open the files?

Have you tried using Amarok or Banshee for syncing with your iPod?

i dont want to sync it

    thats too dificult

i just want the usb to work and recognise my ipod

Fair enough, although most iPods sync just fine with either app, excluding the newer generation iPods.

The padlocks usually means read-only (or something owned by root). Open a terminal and run the command
    mount

I'm wondering if the partition is mounted RW.

You can try mounting it manually also.

eh ye im just using a normal usb - will take longer but

now , two tracks got into amarok

You hardly have a dodgy USB cable? Just if it's appearing and disappearing.

Open up Amarok. Do Settings --> Configure. Tick the box beside media and home. Save changes.

Now do Tools --> Update Collection. Give it a little while. Look at your collection now.

While you're there, open the Devices section of Amarok from the side. Is your iPod listed?
