Does anyone know anything about this amp?

The only review i could find (here) wasnt very good. The chap goes on to say that its very quiet even at extreme volumes. I heard somewhere along the lines that a 300 watt bass amp is the same as a 150 watt guitar amp? Would i have problems competing with the other members in the band?

I don't know of this amp. Although saying that 300watts bass amp is equal to 150watts of guitar amp is not quite right. Its not that clear cut.

Basically, the lower frequencies require more power to amplify them than the higher frequencies. So, a bassist will generally need more power than a guitarist.

That review gives the amp 10/10, is that not really good?

By "very quiet even at extreme volumes" he means there's no background noise or hiss off the amp not that there's no volume. He also says "i use live in clubs an bars an never had to use more then 4 on the gain an 5 on the master ." So you'd have no problem hearing it over the rest of the band, this guy plays gigs at less than half volume so you'll be fine. As for the amp itself I've not used this particular one but it is an Ampeg SVT so I'd pretty much guarantee it'll sound good.

    Hope that helps.

Thats like saying that Gibsons are well made because they carry the Gibson name.

Ampeg moved production from the U.S. to China earlier in the year. Now this does not instantly mean they are rubbish. But I have heard that some components have changed because they had to switch suppliers during the move. Whether thats a good thing or a bad thing I don't know, I haven't played any of the new ones to find out.

No it's like saying an Ampeg SVT-AV(basically a SVT-CL with some classic parts) tube bass amp will sound good, Ampeg make lots of cheaper amps that aren't all that great.

Also, I didn't say anything about how well made it might or might not be but now that you mention it I'd imagine after seeing the rrp on this and the fact it's an anniversary issue it'll be up to a pretty high build quality. Not sure when these came out but they were only available for a limited period so they were probably made in the US.
