Looking for a 6 Max uNL coach

    Hi,

I've been playing NLHE for about 10 months now. When I started out, I didn't know what a TAG or a LAG was but I found that playing a tight passive style worked well for me at 6 Max 25NL. I slowly built a bankroll and decided to take a shot at 50NL, at the same time I found 2plus2 and read every uNL and SSNL article I could find. I changed my style from tight passive to TAG and since then I've gone from a 6BB/100 winner to a breakeven player. Obviously there are some major leaks in my game as any half decent player should be beating 25NL easily. Basically I'm looking for someone to take a look at my game and point me in the right direction. I posted on the 2plus2 forums looking for coaching but got no replies, maybe it's against the rules to ask for coaching there, not sure.

Can anyone give me some advice on where I can find a uNL coach? Also, how much is the going rate per hour?

    Thanks

EDIT: I've been breakeven for over 100,000 hands, so a fairly decent stretch

Yep, PM hectorjelly as he offers that service and is one of the best players on this forum. Ha can supply you with a price or suggest someone else perhaps if he is not available.

Have you got PT? Post up some overall and positional stats/screenshots. A lot of the guys on here will be able to give you some general advice from seeing your stats

Don't get a coach. The amount good coaches cost is way more than you can afford being a micro stakes player. Your best bet is to post your stats and hands here for feedback. Or get a mate who is at your level of poker, to criticise your play, review hands. Do it back for him, it makes understanding poker alot easier when you can see it from someone elses pov.

How much does HJ/others charge these days?

I charge €50 an hour which I think is the least I can charge. I dont really do it for the money (although I wouldn't do it for free!), but I really enjoy it for a number of reasons. I think for a midstakes player (50/1 to 2/4) its very good value. If you play lower the increase in winrate probably isnt worth it.

I think van dice would probably be excellent, based on his posts.

I would actually like to get a coach but all the ones I want are far too expensive. I pm'd mdma from 2+2 and he was $500 an hour or something ridiculous.

MDMA also has a ridiculous waiting list. Ive been on it for about 4 months now and there are still a load of people ahead of me in the queue.

thx, that's as good a reference as I could have hoped for :)

I'm not sure MDMA even accepts students any more? I've been toying with the idea of getting lefort or luegofuego, I'm a fan of their posts on 2+2. And the $$ seems competitive in comparison to others. Maybe treat myself for Christmas!

Hi i have had a slightly similar problem at 25.50. I was beating it well playing a 18/9 passive type of game and as i read articles and posts on forums about how u should be more aggressive etc etc.

I started playing more agressive and i was playing 22/16 my winrate dropped at that level and it became very frustrating. SO i started to play passive again and my winrate has gone back to the way it used to be.

The reasons for this are at that level nearly all players just play their cards. The call call call. You can't bluff too much at all. So i reverted back to playing more passive seeing flops in position and the real key to beating that level is VALUE BETTING. See that is what nearly all 25.50 players are really bad at they simply do not know how to value bet their strong hands. They slowplay sets and flopped flushes etc. in all the wrong places. They charge to little and let u draw cheap.

I have played about 200k hands at this level and I usually 8 table . I realised i was good enough to just extract tons of value out of the players. I had got caught up in making moves and trying to outplay these players when they will always call call call etc. I also find you can easily go into autopilot and not think about what you are doing as much as you should. This is to be avoided and you have to snap yourself out of it.

I have played 50.1 and above and done ok i realise this passive style may not work consistently at these levels but it certainly does at 25.50. I am way way overolled for 25.50 but i am going away for the whole of january and intend to move up levels when i come back. I will be using a fair portion of my bankroll for my trip and dont want some Macspower type variance before i go!!!

Position annd Value betting FTW at 25.50 imo

Just my 2 cents hope it helps.
