Uploasing songs to Ipod

    I read on one of the forums on this site that you can use Winamp to transfer files to an ipod, instead of iTunes. For the winamp sync do I just have to connect the Ipod via the Usb or whatever and it just transfers via the Portables section? No hassle?!!
    I have winamp 5.35.
    If you can't use Winamp can anyone explain how I transfer my Windows Media Player music to Itunes.
    Any help please! :)
