an 8800Gt will run fine under XP, it will just use DX9.

    i.e I run a 8800GTS 320mb just fine in windows XP.

You just would have to buy Vista in order to get the card to run games in DX10 mode.

    i found this

    http://kotaku.com/gaming/crysis/crysis-dx10-stuff-so-works-in-xp-316543.php

and there is a project working on dx10 for xp but i'm still researching at the moment.

    and another blog here.

why would anyone want another millenium edition of an MS product?

TBH dont hold out for a DX10 solution for XP.By the time it happens (if it ever does)there will be a newer version of DX by then.

so to answer my question as to why we should upgrade to the second millenium offering by M$...they fooked us again!

Our only saving grace will be an open source solution that has the capabilities to tun DX10.

Do you have 3-4 GB or RAM, because imo that's what you need for vista to run smooth.

2GB Ram will run vista fine. Although, the price of DDR2 ram has recently crashed €120 for 4GB.

It will run fine but vista with 2 GB will not even run as smooth as XP with 1 GB.

And XP x64 will leave it standing (If you've a 64 bit chip of course) :D
