Help get Tom Waits to number 1!

(I know I'm involved in this project but it's not a money-making thing etc. so hopefully it's ok to plug here... if the mods want to lock it that's cool, though)

We've been running a campaign for the last week or so to try and get Tom Waits' "Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis" to number 1 in Ireland for Christmas and we need your help!

If you're a Tom Waits fan, if you simply hate X-Factor or if you just like following in the Irish tradition of messing with top ten countdowns, charts and best of... lists then this is your chance to spend a mere euro for a solid cause!

While there's no sure-fire way of knowing how the song is doing in the Irish charts until Friday what we do know is that it's already in the iTunes top 20 (based over 7 days of sales, not including yesterday, despite it only selling since Friday) and that Paddy Power has Waits at 6-1 to get the top spot in Ireland because of our effort (just behind the Pogues and X-Factor!).

You can buy the song from iTunes (costs 99c, works on iPods/iPhone), Eircom Music Club (costs €1.20, works on any Windows 'Plays for Sure' device), Sony Connect (costs €1.29, works on any Sony device), Easymusic.com (costs €1.35, works on any Windows 'Plays for sure' device) and Wippit (costs €1.39, also works on any Windows 'Plays for Sure' device).

Links and more information on how to buy can be found here.

If you buy the song before Close of Business tomorrow your purchase will be counted towards Friday's charts, which will be in place for Christmas day.

We've only got a few hours left to make it happen so your help is appreciated - and spread the word to your friends! It's all in the name of fun, and keeping crap music off the top spot!

Damn it, it's too late for me to get in time. Great idea. Can't see it happening though, legendary if it did.

Wish I had seen this earlier, while not a particular fan of Waits at all, I would have been onboard this in a shot, this x-factor $hite is depressing to see, but until that show stops, it'll be the same every year.

Congrats on getting the idea moving though and getting it noticed (especially in such a short space of time!!), and who knows what'd happen if you try it again next year!! ;)
