Maybe a pointless thread but is it possible to get these easily second hand and how much would they be?

They hold their value extremely well and are much sought after because of the screen size. I paid Eur800 a year and a half ago for mine after a few months of searching.

The size would be really handy and I'm interested in giving a Mac a go but at that price I'd just buy a Mac Book

Admitedly they are probably a little cheaper now, and the one I bought was the highest spec that you could get from factory. They aren't the cheapest macs out there unfortunatly, when you could probably get a refurb'd Macbook for 800ish euro anyway.

yeah saw that on the apple website.

Probably the cheapest I'll get it unless I pick up a cheaper on on boards or what ever

I'm on the lookout for one myself for gigging.
They're going for about £200-£400GBP on ebay.

(So if anybody here has a spare one, I'd gladly buy it.)

    Any linkls?

IS €600 not dear for an ibook?

Well it was actually a little less, I must admit. I couldn't remember the exact figure off the top of my head. However the spec was good, and it was pretty much pristine position. As someone else said they're very much in demand and that does put the price of them up a little.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Cancom-UK was where I got it.

Got my 2nd hand one (1.5GHz, pristine condition) for around £300, incl. a family version of Tiger, from a chap in London who placed his ad in gumtree.

Can you wait till next year? A new 12" MacBook is going to be launched so this might put more downward pressure on prices as more Mac users start to upgrade.

And also, learnt a lesson myself - do NOT get the 867MHz version. Gets too hot and loud quickly as the CPU is not the low power 7447/A variant.

well lets not get ahead of ourselves. the rumors are either new macbooks with 13.3 inch backlight screens or 13.3 inch mbp. there havent been any solid rumors on any 12inch devices.

and imo IF there is a 12 inch it will be a 12inch touchscreen. which may not suit most peoples needs.

also the price point rumored is about $1500 (so the same in euro) thats quite a jump from a second hand 12" pb

i hope you've not misunderstood me - if there are eager buyers for the new machine, then there might be more existing PBG4 12" users who want to offload this machine to get the new ones.
