Diagonal bag

    Hi everyone,

First post... hope this is the right board. I got one of these Patagonia bags for my birthday (my one is grey). It is cool, because there is a slot for my laptop and I can fit other gear in it too.

The problem is, you're supposed to wear the strap over your shoulder... diagonally. But I am not the type of person who would wear a pink shirt, and I don't dye the tips of my hair blonde, or anything like that, and I'm worried that a bag worn like this could be referred to as "a man bag". In a land of beer guts and receding hair (i.e., not San Francisco or Dublin 4) is such a thing acceptable?

    Pretty acceptable anywhere I've been.
Very "studenty" though, if thats a hangup. Personally I like them, as long as the strap isn't too short.

It's like this hedgepig, so long as the bag can fit around your bodily girth and has room for beer bottles and a box of Mr Kipling mince pies and can fit a Dominoes pizza box then it's okay by us! :)

/All this typing has me gasping, time for a beer :)

Yep I think it's more of a 'studenty' thing as Jimeatsmenu said, rather than a feminine thing.

I have one, but it's a Jack Bauer back, so that takes away any insecurities :p

    Surely you mean Jimeatsmenu...not Kar0ma!?

Oh and Jimeatsmenu really should register and use boards.org.uk if he's in Wolverhampton :);)

If your in a city you'll be fine. If you're in a small town you'll get muck and calves thrown at you.

OP it's like this! (Welcome by the way) We don't really talk about bags here! If you have a bag wearing conundrum ask the ladies in the lounge or the non drinkers sewing circle, the only time your bag if you must discuss it should come up in the conversation is in the context of how many beers it can hold as someone mentioned I'm too lazy to go back and see who, or it's time to empty the ol' bag as you fart and head off to the head. Fair play however for starting a thread with your first post, now that I've cleared that up for you I would like to point out that it is tradition in BGRH for n00bs to get a round on in the bar and ask Trout about aprons! Off you go!

Just get a back-pack for it. It's much handier than the man-bag style bags.

I would never wear any bag diagonally. As a good culchie, who was brought up using those small backpaks jobs, but only using one strap over the shoulder at all times. As a result of this, I frown upon anyone who wears scarves, except to football matches, and people who use both straps unless really necessary, or people who have the one strap bad on diagonally. I am set in my ways because my ways are right.

I have to doubt that pighead would ever stoop to saying he is from Cork.
