This thread was just closed in PI so I hought I'd put one here - what are your New Year Resolutions people? Anything wild or exciting planned? Giving up anything?

I have never really done New Years resolutions but I do have some things I've been planning for 2008:-
    • Get out of debt, or at least work towards it - slowly but surely.
    • To buy (outright, no debts...) a proper camera and learn more about Photography and give that a go (dream since I was a kid)
    • To finally meet an online (text/phone) friend from London who I've been in touch with since 2001.
    • To generally live a healthier lifestyle, diet, food, excercise and less drugs (ie. alcohol et al)

    Roll on 2008!! Can't wait :D

Never made a New Years resolution before and won't make one this year. I resolve to continue that trend...

Does anyone seriously think they'll keep their resolutions though? The whole gym and healthy eating buzz will be long gone by February.

Yep but a month of healthy eating and excersise is better than a month without both :D You're just a lazy sod admit it! ;)

    • Eat better
    • Exercise more
    • Keep writing my book
    • Organise work a bit better
    • Save some cash
    • Other generic resolutions

Of course, these look eerily familiar to me...but 2009 will be different (he says eyeing the mince pies that his colleague brought into the office today) :D

    1. To sort out all of my health issues and have a clean bill of health so I don't have to
spend my year wondering if I have cancer or heart problems or anything else!

    2. To start moving forwards with regard to my goals and stay on track.

    3. To look after my family and pay more attention to what they have to say
    and what they need.

    4. To win the next boards idol and keep myself on a winning streak! ;)

Set an exact date to start doing it and be mindfull of the fact that its only hard for about a month. Very easy to keep to it after that. Also having someone else to do the same as you helps (aslong as they don't break easily)

You're your own motivation!!! Nobody else can do it for you.
How badly do you want to do the above?

Sort out your diet (Read the stickies in the Fitness Forum)
    Take pictures. (before-during-after)
    Exercise!!
The lads/ladies in the fitness forum are great, if you've any questions they'll sort you out.:)

Unless during that day you're in fact saving the world i.e. all will be forgiven.
    • Clear debt - manageable
    • Improve the status of 'The Guns' - Difficult but manageable
    • Become superhuman

    Sorted.

    define 'saving the world.'

one time when I was off I gave €2 to a charity collector in town

That'll do. Now go forth and do more good, the world is waiting for your generosity to wash over it.

Mmm.....as usual gyms will be very busy in January with all the "New year resolution" people....taking over all the weights and machines! As if I have time to spare waiting! :(
Can't wait for them to quit in February with some "I don't have time" or "I don't find it interesting" excuse :D

New year resolution for me is to play more poker.

    2. Change my job (it is boaring me which does not help with 1 above).
    3. Spend more time with my gorgeous husband.
    4. Go back to college (September).
    5. Try for a baby.
    6. Loose some weight.
    7. Manage to eat more evenly.
    8. Do some housework.
    9. Spend more time with my parents.
    10. Do my Christmas cards in time.
